KBIS 2025: Fresh Design Inspiration for San Diego Home Remodeling

We just returned from KBIS 2025 in Las Vegas, and the level of creativity and innovation we saw has truly inspired us for our upcoming design and remodel projects. As one of the most influential kitchen and bath design events, KBIS really helped set the tone for what’s next to come in the home remodeling industry. At Honeycomb Design and Build, we believe great interior design is about more than just aesthetics—it’s about creating functional, beautiful spaces that stand the test of time. This year’s show reinforced our commitment to blending innovation with timeless design, and we’re excited to bring these ideas to our projects in San Diego.

What Stood Out at KBIS 2025

From bold colors to seamlessly integrated smart technology, this year’s trends are all about making a statement while enhancing everyday living. Here are some of the standout elements we can’t wait to incorporate into our full house renovation projects in San Diego.

1. A Bold Return to Color

For years, neutral kitchens have dominated, but KBIS made it clear that color is back in a big way. Rich, moody hues like deep greens, navy blues, and terracotta brought personality and warmth to kitchen cabinetry and appliances. Café Appliances impressed us with their statement-making finishes, showing how color and metallic details can transform a space. They had stunning displays that blended soft pastels with rich pinks and purples, making it clear that pink still holds its power in the design world. One of the most striking pieces we saw was the Bertazzoni oven, a sleek yet timeless design that blends modern innovation with old-world charm.

2. Smart Technology That Blends In

The best tech is the kind that makes life easier without disrupting the look of a space. One of the most exciting innovations was a hidden lift-up storage system built into a kitchen island, providing extra functionality while keeping everything streamlined. Forno Appliances showcased an incredible moving hidden table—perfect for small spaces or multifunctional kitchens. Another standout was a coffee table that doubles as a drink cooler and phone charger, proving that high-tech design can also be practical and stylish.

For homeowners considering aging-in-place solutions, Life Valet introduced tile-ready grab bars, allowing for added safety without sacrificing style. Kohler’s integrated wall foundation also caught our eye, seamlessly merging accessibility with high-end bathroom design.

3. Texture and Materials That Add Depth

This year, KBIS made one thing clear—flat, uniform surfaces are out, and layered, textured materials are in. We were drawn to ombre tiles from Artistic Tile, which added incredible depth and dimension to walls and backsplashes. Mercury Mosaics showcased handcrafted tiles with intricate patterns and rich color variation, proving that small details can make a big impact. These textural elements add warmth and character to any home, reinforcing our belief that high-end design should feel inviting and lived-in.

4. Smarter Storage Solutions

Maximizing storage without sacrificing aesthetics is a key focus in today’s home design. Rev-A-Shelf delivered on this with beautifully designed, high-quality storage and organization systems that make kitchens more functional. We also loved the pull-out drying racks seamlessly built into laundry room cabinetry—an elegant solution for air-drying clothes without cluttering the space. Thoughtful drawer organizers and space-saving solutions were everywhere, proving that smart storage is essential for a well-designed home.
